The Disk

Home page

The Doctor lands on Earth, and when having to repair one of his gadgets, he breaks into someone's house to get some batteries. The house owner, Gary, joins him in an adventure where an alien called a Granomite is trying to find a disk containing the defence codes to every planet in the universe. Can the Doctor and Gary stop it?

Wow, wot fun! Ya gotta love when kids do Who pantomimes. In this short the Doc has regenerated into a 10 year old boy! Now in Who fan films we don't comment upon the SFX and such so I won't. It would be like saying the Hartnell episodes were rubbish because they were in B&W.

This film feels like that a great deal of fun was had shooting this. The very first shot of the TARDIS arriving in a suburb really got me in the mood to watch this, too. Another thing I loved was when the boys suddenly had dialogue within the Tardis for no reason whatsoever. Brilliant!

As much as I don't want to say anything unkind, it would have been much better if I could actually hear the actors speaking. Only the alien was loud because his dialogue was added in editing. Here's an old trick. Shoot each scene twice. The second time just move the actors right to the mike. Then take the visuals from the first and the words from the second.

Good effort boys! I look forward to more
